Year 12 Studies of Religion Incursion

On 16 March, Year 12 students spent the day listening to three guest speakers, Heather, Hoda and Sourosh, from ISRA (Islamic Science Research Association). Each of these speakers spoke to us about a certain part of the Islamic faith. Heather spoke about environmental ethics, Hoda talked about her experiences during Hajj and Sourosh educated us about Imam al-Shafi’i, a significant person who contributed greatly to Islam.

It was a very enlightening and informative experience that delved deeply into the significance of these aspects of the Islamic faith and how they impact the adherents in all aspects of their life. These talks will further help our studies as we learn more about Islam. It was a great experience for all of us as we were taught by people who live and practise these beliefs which helped us gain a further insight into their lives. Overall, this day was a great learning experience that all of Year 12 enjoyed.
