Year 12 Hospitality and Business Services Excursion

On Friday 13 March 2020 our Year 12 Hospitality and Business Services classes went on an excursion to the Campbelltown Catholic Club. The Hospitality students examined the kitchen operations and met with staff there including Peter, Roger, Emma and Kimberly.

The Business Services students met with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the club who discussed the structure of how the club operates and how each area of the club budgets for its revenue and expenditure. He outlined which current and non-current assets the club has and what future assets the club is thinking about acquiring, as well as it's liabilities. The club makes many financial contributions to community groups and schools in the Macarthur region.

The students were then taken on a tour of the Catholic Club and Rydges. They visited staff in the newly built offices and noted the various styles of work stations (some with stand up desks and multiple computer monitors) as well as the new staff kitchen and board rooms.

The Hospitality girls then combined with the Business Services’ girls to tour Rydges. They examined both the old and new hotel rooms and even the industrial laundry. They were then treated to a three-course lunch in the esteemed restaurant Kyubi where they were hosted by their chef, Kimberly. Kim is an ex-student of St Patrick's who previously won the Macarthur Workplace Student of the Year in 2018. She graciously met with the girls after cooking a beautiful lunch and answered questions about her experience working full time in the Hospitality industry. She recalled fond memories of her time at St Pat's and how she was drawn to this career after leaving school.

The students learned a lot about the business and hospitality world and enjoyed their experience on the day.
