From the Students: Year 10 SEPEP

As the PDHPE program SEPEP continues for Year 10, skills such as dedication, time management, competence, communication as well as social and cognitive skills continue to develop across the class. Due to school excursions, wet weather and people being away sick, the class has needed to work around these obstacles, sometimes on the spot.

With each student having a different role and responsibilities, we have needed to work together to produce the best possible game we can. Some of these roles include photographer, coach, board member etc. Communication skills have been tested, as well as our skills on the playing field. With new information, members have had obstacles that have made the class stop and re-evaluate how the game is being played and what needs to be done to make the game even better.

With each team having a various amount of skill, from total newbies to people who have been playing for years, teams have had to communicate with one another to and work on game plans that will work efficiently. Each team has been tested during games in their level to participate and to challenge themselves to improve every game. Each student has tried her hardest during every game and is also improving as well.

As round 5 has finished and round 6 to come on 18 March the competition is heating up with various points spread around the board. Renegades are coming in first with a total point score of 10 and no losses so far. The Koalas are coming up close with a total of six points and ENDGAME not far behind with 4 points. Thunder and Chicken Nuggets are tying for last with a total of 2 points. Some of the best and fairest awards from round 5 include Charlotte F, Golda S and Lilly Dr. These girls have shown game spirit, persistent effort and improvements throughout the game.

With each lesson, 10.3’s sporting skills, communication, participation and time management have slowly but surely improved and I can confidently say that they will continue to improve as time goes on.

Emma G - Year 10 Student

The SEPEP program has been a huge success so far. Everyone in 10.5 is enjoying themselves while playing and also while doing their duty roles. Team members have become closer with each other and duty members more confident in their roles. From the first round till now, we can see a huge improvement in our netball and soccer skills but also a huge improvement in confidence and teamwork. Everyone in the class has been fulfilling their role with great passion. Coaches have been working hard with their team to improve their physical abilities and have been giving great encouragement throughout the rounds. Coaches have also taken time out of their lunch or recess to help their team practice. Our communication officer has also been very dedicated to her role, sending emails every night before the round to remind everyone so no one forgets or misses out. The administrative officer has a big role from making the scoresheet to updating the ladder, her role requires a lot but she never fails to complete it. The celebrations team have also been preparing for the end of term party which will be a time when everyone reflects and enjoys all the effort they have put in. There will be food, drinks, music and a wonderful video created by our our board members who have also been working very hard organising rounds, duty teams and timings. Overall the SEPEP program has been a really fun experience for all of 10.5 and that is all thanks to all members of the class putting in a lot of effort and dedication. Good job girls!

Comments:

I have enjoyed the SEPEP program so far. Now that I have become more organised, I am enjoying it much more than I did before. I have been trying my hardest to improve each lesson and I believe that I have! - 10.5 student

This SEPEP program has been so fun, and it’s been great working alongside my team and all working together to improve our skills. I loved having two sports that were diverse because it made the game our own. - Madison M

SEPEP is a really fun and engaging program that is extremely rewarding physically and socially. It teaches us good life skills such as communication and teamwork while getting us fit.  - Amber M

I think SEPEP has been a fun, collaborative activity where we've had to put our organisation and teamwork skills to the test in order to successfully run our own competition. I've found it to be a good opportunity to share my skills with others and get to know the skills and talents of other players within the class.  - Serina B

My opinion would be that SEPEP is a good way for girls to step outside of their box and really get involved in something they may not have done before. Everyone has built a stronger bond with their teams who may have people in it that they haven’t interacted with before. Overall SEPEP is something I have really enjoyed and believe others have too.  - Ella F

SEPEP has given me an amazing opportunity to gain confidence, and build new friendships with people I have not spoken to as much. It has also given me the chance to learn how to work with people I have not worked with before. SEPEP has tested my organisation skills and helped me improve in many different ways. - Kamaria N

I think SEPEP is a great course, it is so different to anything else we do in class which makes me look forward to PDHPE. Preparing the lessons ourselves also gives us an insight into what it’s like as a teacher so it gives us an indication as to whether or not we would like to become a teacher in the future. - Emma N

SEPEP for me is a time for us to reflect on our fitness and wellbeing, making sure everyone has a go and has a fair turn. It lets us communicate with girls in our class that we don’t usually communicate with and lets us become a  family. SEPEP is really fun and when you get into it, you can get competitive. Personally, I love it and I think the rest of our class does as well! - Mia C
