College Archives

Our recent Open Day was an opportunity for St Patrick's College Archives to showcase the many artefacts now housed in our collection. The response to several newspaper ads placed in 2019 was amazing, leading to the acquisition of original St Patrick's College memorabilia.

Through the very generous donations of some past students, who had these items "just lying around in an old shoe box", our rich history is starting to come alive. I have had the pleasure of meeting those past students from the 1930s and 1940s, conducting both oral and written histories with them.

I have also met with two past boarders, (circa 1939 and 1966), at St John's Preparatory College "Westview." That College, for boys aged 5 years to 12 years, was the original school on our current site and, like St Patrick's College, operated by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan. These men have very generously shared their school days' stories on video.

The College Archives is open during the school term on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9am to 12.30pm. For donations of memorabilia relating to St Patrick's College or St John's Preparatory College "Westview", that may be "just lying around in an old shoebox" please contact College Reception on 4629-2999 or email jcavallin@saintpatricks.nsw.edu.au.
