Year 9 STEM Enrichment Day - What a line up!

The College is organising a Year 9 STEM enrichment day on 5 May, with the aim of providing opportunities to explore STEM concepts. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Australia’s Chief Scientist says “STEM is everywhere. Our nourishment, our safety, our homes and neighbourhoods, our relationships with family and friends, our health, our jobs, our leisure are all profoundly shaped by technological innovation and the discoveries of science.”

The day will be run as a symposium with a theme aligning to their science unit of work called Next Gen - Towards a sustainable future. We have enlisted the help of several Sydney universities (UTS, UNSW, Macquarie, and UoW) as well as Wollongong Catholic Education office to facilitate workshops. There is a focus on engineering real-world problem solving. Attached is a flyer that provides further information about the content of the day and permission notes will be sent home in week 1 next term.

Parent volunteers are encouraged and most welcome. If you have a passion for STEM and would like to participate, please contact the eLearning Coordinator as soon as possible to register your interest (elearning@saintpatricks.nsw.edu.au). For more details about the event please download the flyer.
