Farewell to our Japanese Exchange Students

Fourteen students from Shonan Shirayuri Gakuen recently visited the College for over two weeks as part of their exchange program to Australia. We have a long association with Shonan Shirayuri Gakuen and we hope it will continue for many years to come.

Sincere thanks to the families who hosted the students from Shonan Shirayuri Gakuen during their stay. The students all expressed how wonderful their experiences were with the families and how they felt so welcomed. It is only a very short time that the students are here, but there are many tears when they leave as they become so attached to the host families.

During the students' stay, they participated in mainstream classes and in Year 9 and 11 Japanese classes, which gave the students at St Patrick’s the opportunity to use the Japanese they have learnt in class and also learn more about what life is like in Japan for a girl their age.

The exchange program with Shonan Shirayuri Gakuen is an annual event and we look forward to the next students who will visit us in 2017. Alumni are welcome to host students, as well as currently enrolled student families.
