On Wednesday 8 June, St Patrick’s College held its annual athletics carnival at Campbelltown Athletics Stadium. After a spell of wet weather, we were greeted with a beautiful sunny day which provided the perfect backdrop for a day full of fun, competition and excitement.
Again the participation rates were exceptionally high which can be attributed to the students willingness to get in and ‘have a go', as well as the athletics skills being fostered and developed in PDHPE lessons. These factors, in combination with the supportive environment that St Patrick’s students create, enable all students to step outside their comfort zone to participate and enjoy the day.
A big thank you must go to the senior students, particularly the Year 12s who were setting a great example for the rest of the College in their attendance rates, the way they participated and the way they conducted themselves throughout the day. I must also thank the staff, parent helpers and student helpers who were instrumental in the day running so smoothly and successfully.
Our Age Champions for the day were:
12 Years – Amadee T
13 Years – Darcey M / Piper A (equal points)
14 Years – Ruby D
15 Years – Olivia F
16 Years – Ana C
17 Years – Taylor J
Overall Age Champion for 2016 – Taylor J
The Champion House for the day was Kenny, which was closely followed by Gilmore and Lyons, with Chisholm finishing in fourth position.
